PRIDE
What Is It?
PRIDE (Promoting Resources in Developmental Education) is a collaborative program dedicated to the healthy development of children from birth to age 5, with a special emphasis on earlier identification of those at risk for developmental and behavioral delays. Led by the Greenville Hospital System Children's Hospital Division of Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics, PRIDE also works closely with many public and private organizations in the Upstate of South Carolina serving children and families.
Developmental and behavioral problems are common in early childhood, affecting over 15% percent of young children. Early identification and treatment can decrease the risk of later learning and behavioral difficulties. The overall aim of the PRIDE Program is to promote early identification of children with developmental problems, and timely referral of these children to appropriate early intervention services. The program targets the key players in children's lives: their parents, primary care physicians, and early childhood care providers and educators.
